This patient had an old silver filling with recurrent decay. The photos below show the area of decay after the filling had been removed.
It was important in this case to choose the proper type of restoration. A resin filling would have not offered enough support to keep the remaining tooth from fracturing off. We chose to place a partial crown on the tooth to replace the missing tooth structure and support the remaining cusps. The result is strong and the patient loves the way it looks.
